CONNECTED SPACES
In the moderate climate of Bangalore, this house consists of two distinct buildings, each with their own purpose and identity, yet connected by a courtyard that brings life to this space. As you enter the building, you are greeted by a charming courtyard right in the center, an open space which allows natural light and a cool breeze. This courtyard connects the interiors with the exteriors. Further, you enter the stilts, an airy, open space where you can see children playing. When you go up, the first landing has the kitchen which extends into a dining space, where the family huddles up to enjoy their meals together. The spaces stagger as the floor elevates itself at different levels. A close knit living space is located on the next landing where there is cool breeze entering from south west. The bedroom is located just after the living room, which becomes the more private space in the house. This part of the house offers privacy and comfort, a literal and figurative elevation from the hustle and bustle below. The height difference between the two buildings provides both different views and affects the transition from public to private space. A place where nature exists and every path in the building offers a new and deep connection with the environment.
